Bergakul
Bergakul (Bergafun) is a meeting point for children and adolescence. Every Friday night between 6 pm and 12 midnight children and teenagers can come to Bergahallen, which is a sports centre owned by the municipality, where they have access to all kinds of sports equipment needed to play and practice sports and games. This makes a great prerequisite for spontaneous games and tournaments. Bergakul is an alcohol and drug free environment and every Friday night an average of about 150 children and teenagers visit Bergakul.
The activities are run by the municipality, different associations and students from the local schools, all working together. One important part is to establish a permanent meeting place for get to gathers and make it a place where children, teenagers and adults can work together.
The sports centre is modified for use by disabled people.

Youth Council
Young people in Smedjebacken have a great possibility to influence political decisions. A Youth Council has been established to give the youth greater access to power and welfare.
The Youth Council meets on a regular basis to discuss current issues as well as the future. The number one priority for the Youth Council is to make the young people´s voices heard in the community in order to get access to power and welfare. The members of the Youth Council are between 13 and 25 years of age.
